Mrs. Blair
My name is Angie Blair and I LOVE being a part of the teaching team at Old Mill Academy! This will be my 9th year teaching at Old Mill!
I want each child to have a wonderful learning experience. We work hard and we try to have fun along the way.
My educational background includes an undergraduate degree from the University of Louisville, with a major in art. My art background includes working for Campbell, Mithun Esty advertising agency and Ardel Inc. in Minneapolis, Minnesota. I am also a graduate of the MASE, masters in special education, program at Campbellsville University and a second special education (MSD) certification through Western Kentucky University. I have worked previously as a special education teacher with Nelson County Schools.
I live in Bardstown with my wonderful husband Richard and our 4 beautiful children, Emma, Faith, Charlie and Katie. We have 2 dogs, Daisy and Ollie. I love to travel and go camping with my family and I also enjoy watching movies, crafting, cooking and reading.
Each day your student will receive Dojo points for exhibiting positive leaning skills. At the same time they may have a Dojo taken away for not following classroom and school expectations. Dojo points are collected and monitored by the students. When they reach 10 points, they receive a star in their agenda. When 20-30 points are reached, they may choose a reward from my prize basket! This is a very successful strategy that promotes positive behavior, self reliance, and good choices.
As a teacher, I feel that we work the students to their fullest during the day so we try not to give a lot of homework. Your son or daughter may have projects throughout the year. I encourage the students to read for at least 15 minutes a night. They will earn a Dojo point for each reading log entry. Reading is very important! Please allow your son or daughter to read material of their choice (magazines, books, newspapers, etc.) but document what was read in their Reading log . As always, please feel free to call me with any questions or concerns. I am here for your student and you as a parent.
